welcome to me.

If you could document your life, how would you do it?

In middle school, I used to print out pictures and hang them on my wall. You know, there were those picture collages you could make; you could scatter them along the wall or hang them in the shape of a heart. On the other hand, you could hang them on strings and have that light, dangling look. I have done all of the above. I even moved over to stringing up polaroids on twine when that became popular… something I still do to this day. Call me mainstream, but it’s cute.

By the end of high school, I realized I had so many pictures on my phone… like so. many. And let’s be real, when are you ever going to go back through them all, except to delete them from your phone because you’re running out of space to download that new app. So I sucked up the dread and spent a couple hours going through my pictures, selecting a few to physically have printed — I know, who does that anymore? — and I put them in a photo album, like a tangible one.

Besides each picture slot was a little area to write a comment, which was great for looking back on, but horrible at the time of. If you think that writing Instagram captions are hard, imagine trying to write captions for over 100 pictures you just printed from events dating back up to four years ago. (Little tidbit, my memory really sucks.)

Regardless of the slow and time-consuming start, I have to say, physical photo albums are much more memorable than having hundreds of pictures on your phone. There’s something so satisfying about physically flipping through photos and reading the short captions. Yet, I really don’t look at the albums all that much still, and I have really sucked at keeping up with printing out pictures every so often.

So, if you could document your life, how would you do it?

Would you make a journal?

Bullet journalling is definitely popular; they’re cute and refreshing. However, I also really sucked at keeping up with something on the daily. Most of my calendar was on my phone anyways, too, and with all the walking I did on campus, even the small relief of not carrying around the weight of my planner was notable.

Would you vlog?

My sister does this… and so did like ten people from my high school, but I am not the most comfortable recording myself all the time. I would much rather be behind the camera than in front of it.

You see, I have tried many things. And so, here we are.

Attempt #5.

Welcome to the documentation of my life. Well, not all of it really, because, as you probably caught, I am really bad at keeping track of things, but at least a good deal of it.

You’ll get to read about my adventures through college —aka, my trips down Dean Keaton and past Speedway to the PCL and back. You’ll see posts about my obstacles and my successes. I’ll give you tidbits on what I think is good advice. Through it all, though, you will hopefully get to see more about what makes me, me.

Thanks for reading, and I hope you stick around for the ride.

Raw and unadulterated — this is how I typically feel things. And when I feel these things I think I feel, I write. My little pieces of comprehension have taken the form of words jumbled together on your screen. A masterpiece? Probably not, but welcome to glimpses of this incredible life I get to experience. I do hope you’ll stick around.
